The park and trails at Sawnee Mountain are now open!
Swallowtail butterflies, like this one handled by a local entomologist, are just a few of the encounters you’ll experience with nature at Sawnee Mountain Preserve. Hardwoods, pines and native azaleas, laurels and yucca’s share the mountain with other insects and types of wildlife.
More than 100 area residents visited the Indian Seats at the grand opening of Sawnee Mountain Preserve. Views of green open space, lakes, farms and sky are the rewards for hiking the 1.3 mile trail.
The serene atmosphere at Sawnee Mountain Preserve encourages all ages to explore the trails at their own pace.
